Serving on our Board of Directors and Board Committees is a meaningful way to get involved with Solid Ground. We're looking for people with a sincere interest in helping low-income individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency through compre-hensive, quality programs and services.

Solid Ground is committed to building an ethnically and economically diverse Board. People of color and people with lower incomes, including clients of Solid Ground or other nonprofit agencies, are strongly encouraged to contact us. Solid Ground Board membership provides thoughtful, interesting, and exciting opportunities for both individual and group contributions. We encourage and support individual Board members in achieving some of their own personal goals through Board service. We have a serious agenda, and we are here to make a difference. We can cover expenses related to Board service for Board members with lower incomes, such as childcare and transportation costs.

Our Board of Directors recruitment priorities include:

• Management/leadership experience (including prior board experience)
• Professional finance/accounting experience
• Professional marketing or public relations experience
• People of color
• People who identify as lower income, or people who work with populations with low incomes
• Representatives of elected officials

Our Board and Board Committees typically meet once a month. Board members participate in activities of the full Board and sit on at least one Board Committee. If you want to make a difference, but have time constraints, you can elect to work on a Board Committee without becoming a Board member.

Other volunteer leadership opportunities (if the Board commitment is greater than you are looking for right now):

There are several action groups formed around specific fundraising and/or event initiatives that currently meet once per month or more. They include:

• Community Giving Stations (at the Fremont Fair in June)
• Solid Ground's Annual Lunch (fall)
• Leadership Giving (larger philanthropic donation procurement)
• Private House Parties (fundraising parties held in homes or businesses with invited guests)
