URL

http://www.solid-ground.org/Programs/Legal/Penny/Pages/default.aspx

Location

Meet at Volunteer Resources (464 12th Ave, Seattle, 98122), then drive to schools and back.

Hours

Dec. 1, 2, 3 , 4, 7, 9 & 10; Shifts: 8:15am-noon or 11:15am-3:30pm

Description

The Penny Harvest program seeks volunteers to pick up sacks of coins collected by students at schools in Seattle/King County and transport them to Solid Ground’s Volunteer Resources building in the Central Area. Pick-up takes place in 3- to 4-hour shifts over 7 days in December — but even if you can only help for a partial shift, we can use your help!

Please let us know if you have a vehicle you can use for pick-up — and if yes, what kind of vehicle, and if you have insurance. We also need volunteers to ride along and assist drivers. Each sack of coins weighs approximately 30 lbs. Penny Harvest will consider the number of bags and number of schools each driver is assigned based on their vehicle and availability.

All volunteers will receive instructions, directions to schools, the appropriate materials and a small treat!

Qualifications

  • Physical ability to lift 30-lb. sacks of coins.
  • Vehicle helpful but not necessary. (If you do drive, proof of insurance is necessary.)
