Bowl to Feed Hungry Kids

WHAT:
The Strike Out Hunger Bowl-a-thon raises money to help Solid Ground’s Food Security for Children (FSC) program feed thousands of infants and toddlers — and supports other Solid Ground efforts to end poverty.

WHY:
In our community, thousands of families struggle to provide food for their children. Hungry kids suffer from ill health, have more difficulties in school and are more likely to remain impoverished. Food Security for Children helps food banks throughout Seattle better meet the needs of hungry families with young children by distributing toddler nutrition kits, enriched infant formula and other resources, information and supplies to help end childhood hunger.

WHO:
YOU! and a group of friends, colleagues and/or family members! The Bowl-a-thon is a great way to engage people in working against hunger. We promise you’ll have a great time! Each bowler who raises over $150 wins a special prize. Trophies are awarded to teams for Best Team Spirit (costumes help!), Most Awareness Generated (number of donors) and Most Hungry Kids Fed (dollars raised). We also welcome your donations of diapers, formula and jar food.

 To make a credit card gift to support a specific bowler, please go to our Bowl-a-thon donation page. Fill out the webform, and your gift will be credited to your favorite bowler. 

Strike Out Hunger 2008 was a great success!

• 28 teams raised over $16,500 (far exceeding our $12,000 goal)! With the recent rise in food prices, we know these funds will go a long way to support families and children through this difficult time.
• Many thanks to the following local businesses: The Matador, Garlic Jim’s, Rusty Pelican, Not A Number, Bella Cosa, Mrs. Cook’s, Jillian’s and Chef N’ – who donated food and giveaways for the Bowl-a-thon.
