JourneyHome (formerly the Solid Ground program) provides long-term case management, transitional housing, and permanent housing placement assistance for homeless families with children throughout King County. Case managers work with families to provide thorough intake and assessment, and to develop both a short and a long-term family goal plan that addresses the barriers preventing the family from accessing and maintaining permanent housing. We also have access to approximately 35 units of transitional housing throughout the county that are available exclusively for JourneyHome families.
Our housing search staff works with families to develop a housing plan, and to help them find permanent, affordable housing. The program also has flexible funding to help with move-in expenses, debt repayment, transportation needs, furniture, and other expenses related to finding employment and housing.
JourneyHome is expanding our supportive services with a new program called “Stable Families” that will provide long-term supportive services to previously homeless families in permanent housing, who are at extremely high risk to cycle back into homelessness. The program will provide case management, financial literacy, mental health services and short term rent subsidies to stabilize families before they lose their housing again. These supports will be available to families after other service options have been exhausted, and is unique in its ability to provide non-time limited services to families with serious multiple barriers to maintaining permanent housing.
