It’s a tumultuous week for our nation. The upcoming inauguration and our country’s hallmark peaceful transfer of power highlight deep political and social rifts and many uncertainties about what will come out of DC.
Locally, we continue to grapple with homelessness, school funding, and other fundamental ways to make our community more equitable and just for all. Yet this is a season when gloom naturally lifts, as the sun increasingly fills our days with light. Northwest mornings are golden with possibility; evening light lingers in the sky.
And so we see our community coming together around the values we hold most dear: inclusion, equity, breaking down oppressions, and helping all people have equitable access to opportunities to thrive. We are grateful for the important role that you play to make our community better!
Here are 4 ways to spread your light…
Advocate
By FOLLOWING POVERTY ACTION, our advocacy partner, for the latest information and advocacy opportunities throughout the Washington legislative session, you can:
- Help people meet their basic needs and strengthen our state’s safety net.
- Ensure that people leaving the criminal justice system can re-enter their communities.
- Protect consumers living on low incomes from predatory lending and debt.
- Support the success of students living on low incomes and students of color through equity in education and fair disciplinary measures in schools.

Solid Ground works to protect renters and homeowners facing difficult times and help people overcome barriers to thriving. From our decades of providing tenant and mortgage counseling and other homelessness prevention services, we know that families are more successful when they stay in their homes. And it costs a lot less, for them and for society, to keep people housed than to serve them through the homelessness services system. Give Money
Your donations fuel our local movement to create a more equitable community. In honor of the returning sun, spread your light and DONATE NOW!
Ethan Crawford says
IN LIFE, WE CAN NOT CONTROL 85% OF WHAT GOES ON IN THE WORLD. LET’S FOCUS ON THE 15% THAT WE CAN TAKE OWNERSHIP TO AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I LIKE THE POSITIVE STATEMENT OF SOLID GROUND THAT WE CAN IMPACT AND GROW IN THE PROCESS.
