On the heels of the “Seattle Squeeze” caused by the highway 99 viaduct closure, we’re now in the midst of a rare extended “Seattle Freeze,” with temperatures dropping below freezing in the Emerald City this week. And it’s not over yet: Seattleites can expect a foot of snow this coming weekend.

In times like these, it’s important for us to remember that not everyone has access to the necessities to keep warm in such dangerous temperatures. If you, a loved one, a neighbor, or a friend is experiencing homelessness in the greater Seattle Area during this time, here are a few resources to help keep warm.

•  The Seattle Center Exhibition Hall (301 Mercer St, Seattle, WA 98109), accessible by Metro route 3 and the Rapid Ride D line, will operate through the night of February 10, providing shelter to both males and females over the age of 18. For more information, please contact 206.684.0231.
• The Old Chamber of Commerce Building, Renton (300 Rainier Ave N, Renton, WA 98057), accessible by Metro routes 106 and 107, will provide shelter to single women, men and families through the night of February 11. For more information, please contact 425.430.6600.
• The King County Administration Building (500 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104) will be open through February 14, providing shelter to males over the age of 18. For more information, please contact 206.263.9089.
