Every quarter, Solid Ground takes time to recognize the many valuable partners that support our collective work toward a world without poverty. This quarter, we’re highlighting our ongoing partnership with Boeing Employees Community Fund (Boeing ECF), a longtime supporter that’s risen to meet some of our most crucial capital needs and urgent building improvements, most recently at the Sand Point Housing campus.
Located adjacent to Magnuson Park in northeast Seattle, the campus is one of several residential sites where Solid Ground provides housing and services for more than 750 adults and children who’ve experienced homelessness and other compounding barriers to stability. As these properties age, maintaining the buildings for the safety and comfort of residents has become an increasing priority. Especially in light of our region’s affordable housing crisis, it’s crucial to preserve and maintain the functionality of our shelter, transitional, and permanent housing units.
Since 1995, Boeing ECF has contributed more than $400K to Solid Ground for direct program support and specific capital needs across several Solid Ground sites.
Boeing ECF’s dedication to serving the needs of Health and Human Services organizations like Solid Ground is truly transformational – and ongoing partnerships with funders like Boeing ECF are vital to building systemic change and creating the thriving, equitable communities we envision.
In recent years, Boeing ECF has provided key support for a variety of equipment and capital needs across our sites so Solid Ground can continue delivering secure, supportive housing. Earlier in 2022, they supported the purchase of 139 new mattresses across our 31 units at Broadview Emergency and Transitional Shelter for survivors of domestic violence, a key improvement at a time when COVID-19 and stay-at-home orders sped up wear and tear on the building’s private apartments.
This past quarter, Boeing ECF graciously provided funding to Solid Ground for security camera upgrades across one of our Brettler Family Place buildings and the Lowry Community Center, two Sand Point Housing buildings that previously had no functional security infrastructure.
Brettler Family Place II is home to 25 families with children who’ve experienced homelessness, while Lowry Community Center features staff offices, resident meeting space, computer access, and a children’s center. Thanks to Boeing ECF, these two high-usage buildings are now equipped with new security cameras ensuring that all staff and residents feel safe to engage in services and build community together after the pandemic disruptions.
Dedicated supporters like Boeing ECF empower our programs to maximize safety and support for the community members we serve – and they contribute to shared goals to promote long-term stability and success for everyone.
In addition to Boeing ECF, we’d like to thank the following funders that contributed to Solid Ground’s community impact last quarter:
- Adobe
- BNSF Railway Foundation
- Campion Foundation
- F5 networks
- Mental Wellness Foundation
- Muckleshoot Indian Tribe
- MUFG Union Bank
