Solid Ground is looking for volunteers who are passionate about event support!
About the Special Events Volunteer
If you’re interested in supporting Solid Ground’s events and one-time activities, this is the position for you! You’ll support the Resource Development team and other Solid Ground programs with event day responsibilities, including but not limited to setup and takedown, greeting and interacting with guests, registration, assembling kits, sorting donations, and other responsibilities. If you have experience or are interested in learning about event planning and organization, or just want to be more involved with Solid Ground, this is a great position to do so!
Time Commitment
Volunteers are strongly encouraged to commit to at least two events or one-time opportunities in the calendar year. We host a variety of fundraising and community events throughout the year. Most major events take place in the early afternoon or evening. More details on start/end times and volunteer shifts will be released to interested volunteers closer to the event dates. Currently scheduled events include:
- Monday, January 20, 2025: MLK Lobby Day 2025
- Wednesday, May 28, 2025: Solid Ground’s Annual Gala
- Friday, August 22, 2025: Annual Day of Service
Qualifications
- Age requirement: Must be 18 years or older, or 21 and older for certain roles.
- Willingness and ability to work with people from a variety of racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds, with various lifestyles, sexual orientations, and of all ages.
- Willing to commit to volunteer at a minimum of two events per year.
- Volunteers who have, or are willing to obtain, a bartending license are especially encouraged to volunteer for the August Food Truck event.
Steps to Become a Special Events Volunteer
1) Complete the online One-Time Volunteer Intake Form. If you are 55 and older, please fill out the RSVP Volunteer Registration Webform.
2) Email our Volunteer Coordinator at Volunteers@solid-ground.org to be added to our Special Events volunteer email list or ask questions.
3) Check your emails! We’ll reach out to you if we have any one-time events coming up that we need volunteers for.
