MEDICARE SAVINGS
WHEN: Open enrollment ends Friday, December 8, 2023.
WHAT: If you’re enrolled in Medicare and living on a low income, you may be eligible for a program that could save you more than $1,900 a year. Medicare Savings Programs help eligible people by paying Medicare premiums, deductibles and other Medicare-related costs. You can have either standard Medicare or a Medicare managed care plan.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT PESTS IN YOUR APARTMENT
WHEN: Wednesday, November 15, 2023, 3-4:45pm
WHERE: Zoom; register for link.
WHAT: Are you a tenant dealing with an infestation in your rental house or apartment? In this workshop, tenant counselors will:
- Describe how to deal with different types of infestations.
- Explain how to report the problem to your landlord.
- Tell you what to do if your landlord doesn’t meet their responsibility to fix the problem.
A visiting attorney from the Tenant Law Center will also be on hand to help with answering questions. If you’re currently living in King County and being threatened with eviction, contact the Housing Justice Project for legal assistance at 206.267.7069 or hjpstaff@kcba.org.

FREE MEDICAL CARE FOR PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS
WHEN: Thursday, November 16, 2023, 10am-2 pm
WHERE: Salvation Army SoDo, 1039 6th Ave S, Seattle
WHAT: King County’s Mobile Medical Program provides walk-in care for people who are living homeless (or were recently homeless) only. Please try to arrive at least one hour before the scheduled end time for the clinic. On rare occasions the clinic will close earlier than the scheduled time. Call the Mobile Van nursing lines if you would like to confirm the clinic end time for a particular day.
Please note: Sites and available services are subject to change due to Mobile Medical’s involvement in the COVID-19 response. Please check King County’s Mobile Medical Care webpage for the latest information, including upcoming dates in September.

FREE & LOW-COST VETERINARY CARE
WHEN: Friday, November 17, 11am–2pm
WHERE: Resource Day at the Café, 4202 6th Ave S, Seattle, WA
WHAT: Seattle Veterinary Outreach provides veterinary care for free to people experiencing homelessness and at a reduced cost for people living on low incomes. The organization is also currently partnering with Public Health – Seattle King County to provide free COVID vaccinations and booster shots to anyone regardless of income.
Veterinary care is provided on a first-come, first-served service. Pet owners are encouraged to arrive between 10-10:30am to secure a place in line.
This service is reserved for those experiencing homelessness or living with a low income, which is verified at clinics. Pet owners should bring their SNAP, EBT, WIC, SSI, or TANF cards. Alternatively, a letter confirming that the pet owner is living in subsidized housing or receiving housing vouchers is also acceptable.

FREE LITERACY LESSONS & TUTORING
WHEN: Winter registration begins Monday, November 20, 2023

WHAT: Literacy Source helps adults gain basic literacy skills they need to succeed in school, to find a job, to achieve life goals, and to create a better, more hopeful future. Classes, tutoring, and coaching are available for English, reading/writing, GED, Citizenship, employment, and computers.

NEW HEALTH INSURANCE OPTIONS FOR UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS
WHEN: Open enrollment is November 1 through December 15, 2023.
WHAT: Starting this November, everyone who lives in Washington state will have the opportunity to buy affordable health and dental insurance through Washington Healthplanfinder, regardless of immigration status. You do NOT need U.S. citizenship, a green card, or other immigration papers. Your information will not be used for immigration enforcement.

CASH FOR YOUR FAMILY: GET YOUR WORKING FAMILIES TAX CREDIT
WHEN: Apply by December 31, 2023
WHAT: Washington state has already paid out more than $62 million to 84,000 individuals and families under the new Working Families Tax Credit. Individuals and families can receive up to $1,200 if they meet certain eligibility requirements. Applications will be accepted through the end of the year.

NEW MINIMUM WAGES FOR SEATTLE WORKERS IN 2024
WHEN: New minimum wages go into effect January 1, 2024
WHAT: The Seattle Office of Labor Standards has announced new minimum wages for the city based on the Seattle Minimum Wage Ordinance. The new wages are:
- $17.25/hr for small employers (500 or fewer employees) that contribute at least $2.72/hr toward employee’s medical benefits or where employees earn at least $2.72/hr in tips.
- $19.97/hr for all large employers (501 or more employees) and for small employers that do not contribute at least $2.72/hr toward employee’s medical benefits or where employees do not earn at least $2.72/hr in tips.
