Bus Driver Appreciation Day 2018 is being celebrated on is Friday, March 16 – so we would like to take a moment to let Solid Ground Transportation’s drivers know how much we appreciate, respect and value their service to our community!
Solid Ground Transportation provides Access curb-to-curb and door-to-door transportation for eligible people who are unable to ride the regular King County Metro bus system. And our Downtown Circulator provides free rides for people living on low incomes and those who access health and human services in downtown Seattle.
“Our drivers do an outstanding job of transporting our most vulnerable populations,” says Kari Ware, Solid Ground Transportation Director.
“We would like to recognize all the great work they do each and every day. We know that being an Access or Circulator driver is not an easy job. It is so much more than just driving a bus. There are schedules to keep and passengers who have special needs. In addition to all of this, they must navigate the ever-changing, complex traffic conditions in a safe, professional manner. They manage to do an excellent job, day after day, with a smile on their face and a kind word. We are truly fortunate to have them on our team and appreciate their dedication and hard work!”
Solid Ground Transportation’s senior drivers, Ninus and Kathy Hopkins (pictured above), have been married for 46 beautiful years, and for more than half of those, they have both worked for the Solid Ground Transportation. Thirty of our drivers have more than 10 years of experience driving Access buses to help seniors and people living with disabilities to remain in their homes. Drivers, we appreciate you — today and every day!
