KING COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY SECTION 8 LOTTERY IS OPEN!

WHEN: Wednesday, April 5, 2017, 12:01am through Tuesday, April 18, 2017, 4pm

WHERE: Accepting applications online at the KCHA website.

WHAT: Every couple of years, King County Housing Authority holds a lottery for places on the Section 8 rental assistance waiting list. You may sign up online during the open period. After April 18, a random drawing will be held to place 3,500 people on the waiting list.

Important info:

• ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE through the KCHA website. The lottery opened Wednesday, April 5 and closes Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 4pm.
• After April 18, a DRAWING will be held to determine random placement on the waiting list. Only the first 3,500 names drawn will receive a place on the waiting list.
• There’s no advantage to submitting an application on the first day.

Eligibility requirements:

• Head of household must be over 18 years of age.
• Household must contain at least one member with a disability, OR is at least 62 years old, OR is under 18 years old.
• Household must be low-income (making 30% of the area median income), OR be homeless, OR be living in sub-standard housing, OR be paying more than 50% of income for rent and utilities.
• In general, the household cannot already be living in government subsidized housing.
