Friends of Youth (FoY) offers free educational services for Eastside students between the ages of 16 – 21 who are not on schedule to graduate with their cohorts.
The program offers case management through an Education Specialist and regular onsite GED classes from Lake Washington Tech instructors. They strive to reduce barriers students may be experiencing in their day-to-day lives by helping them also access other local resources such as health care, counseling (substance abuse-related and otherwise), and transitional living services (FoY’s emergency youth shelter, “The Landing,” is on site).
“Recently, Goodwill Bellevue stopped offering their courses, so this we are please to offer this important community resource for East King County,” says Daniel R. Benner, FoY Education and Employment Program Coordinator.
