March 2025: TELL CONGRESS: Oppose Cuts to Medicaid & SNAP!
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a budget resolution that would cut Medicaid funding by $880 billion and SNAP funding by $230 billion over the next 10 years. This proposal still needs to go through the reconciliation process with the Senate, but these cuts would be disastrous for Washingtonians across the state. Lasting change often starts small and local. Here are some practical ways we can all empower our neighbors, resist oppressive systems, and strengthen support networks in our communities:
- Seattle Mutual Aid Directory – Get involved in Mutual Aid.
- Know Your Rights Tools – Spread info about people’s rights
- Stand with the Duwamish Tribe – Sign their petition for Federal tribal recognition.
- Volunteer to coordinate a supply drive – Help meet specific Solid Ground program needs.
- Get involved with your local food bank – Donate food or volunteer.
