~NEW THIS EDITION~
SEATTLE MINIMUM WAGE TO HIT $20.76/HR NEXT YEAR
WHEN: New wage starts January 1, 2025.
WHAT: The minimum wage for all workers in Seattle will rise to $20.76/hr next year no matter who they work for. The new wage, announced last week by the Seattle Office of Labor Standards, is based on the rate of inflation in the Greater Seattle area.
Another big change is coming to Seattle minimum wage as well. Currently, Seattle employers pay one of two different minimum wages depending on their size and whether their employees earn tips or receive medical benefits. Most pay workers a minimum of $19.97/hr, while some smaller employers are able to pay workers as little as $17.25/hr.
That practice ends January 1, 2025, when all Seattle employers will be required to start paying the same minimum wage ($20.76/hr) regardless of their size or whether their employees receive tips or medical benefits.
