NEW PAID-LEAVE BENEFITS FOR APP-BASED DRIVERS
WHAT: Drivers for Uber, Lyft, and other app-based transportation companies are now eligible for Washington state’s no-cost Paid Family & Medical Leave program with support from the Drivers Union. Drivers who sign up may be eligible for up to 12 weeks paid time off when you have a health condition that prevents you from working, need to care for a family member who is ill, or have a new child in your family.

NEW SENIOR WOMEN’S SHELTER IN KENMORE
WHAT: Referrals are now being accepted for the new Kenmore Senior Women’s Shelter, a specialized shelter program serving retirement-age women with very low fixed income who do not qualify for permanent supportive housing. Guests experience a balanced living environment with the benefits of enhanced shelter services and a high degree of autonomy, trust, and independence.

LEARN THE BASICS OF RENTING IN WASHINGTON STATE
WHEN: Wednesday, December 11, 2024, 3-4:45pm
WHERE: Online. Register for link.
WHAT: Learn some basics of Landlord-Tenant law, including how to:
- Navigate the housing search and tenant screening applications.
- Get your security deposit back.
- Document communications with your landlord.
- Deal with repair issues.

WHAT: A variety of organizations are holding events this week to help connect people with basic needs and services, including things like cell phones, bus passes, vaccines, health care screenings, employment resources, legal assistance, and more!
Virtual Redmond community resource center
- When: Wednesday, December 4, 2024, 2-4pm
- Where: Online. Join via Zoom (Meeting ID: 930 683 3892; Password: 459890).
- What: During Redmond Library’s closure from November 18 to December 26, 2024, the Redmond Community Resource Center will be available virtually via Zoom on Wednesdays from 2-4pm. You can get help with cash assistance, employment and training, housing, food, health/medical care, legal support, mental health and substance use treatment, and more.

FREE MEDICAL CARE FOR PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS
WHEN: Various times and locations listed below
WHAT: King County’s Mobile Medical Program provides walk-in care for people who are living homeless (or were recently homeless) only. Please try to arrive at least one hour before the scheduled end time for the clinic. On rare occasions the clinic will close earlier than the scheduled time. Call the Mobile Van nursing lines if you would like to confirm the clinic end time for a particular day.
Please note: Sites and available services are subject to change due to Mobile Medical’s involvement in the COVID-19 response. Please check King County’s Mobile Medical Care webpage for the latest information, including upcoming dates in September.

FREE & LOW-COST VETERINARY CARE
WHEN: Various dates and times. See below.
WHAT: Seattle Veterinary Outreach, Washington Health Outreach, and Doney Coe Pet Clinic provide veterinary care for free or at a reduced cost to the pets of people experiencing homelessness and or living on low incomes.
Veterinary care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Pet owners are encouraged to arrive early to secure a place in line.
Services are reserved for those experiencing homelessness or living with a low income, which is verified at clinics. Pet owners should bring their SNAP, EBT, WIC, SSI, or TANF cards. Alternatively, a letter confirming that the pet owner is living in subsidized housing or receiving housing vouchers is also acceptable.

GRANT OPPORTUNITY FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED HOMELESSNESS
WHEN: Applications due December 30, 2024.
WHAT: People who have experienced homelessness at any point in their lives can apply to receive up to $25,000 to support a professional or creative endeavor thanks to the National Alliances to End Homelessness’s new Susan G. Baker and Elizabeth Boyle Innovation Fund. Applications for the grant program are due by December 30, 2024, with virtual presentations and interviews scheduled for January 2025.

FREE HEALTHCARE JOB TRAINING
WHEN: 8-week full-time course begins January 7, 2025

WHAT: CareerWork$ Medical is a free 8-week job-training program for adults of all ages interested in a career in entry-level, non-clinical healthcare positions, such as patient services specialist, healthcare call center rep, and healthcare billing specialist. HELP FOR MIGRANTS & ASYLUM-SEEKERS

WHAT: The newly launched Washington Migrant and Asylum-Seekers Support project is designed to meet the basic needs of people who have recently arrived in the United States and Washington state but are ineligible for federal refugee services. Participants may be eligible for housing support, immigration-related legal services, and culturally responsive case management. Participants are also connected to medical, education, and job-training resources that are available in the community.
