NEW HEALTH CARE COVERAGE FOR IMMIGRANTS
WHEN: Applications accepted starting Thursday, June 20, 2024.
WHAT: The Washington State Health Care Authority will soon begin accepting applications for medical coverage for people who do not qualify for Apple Health (Medicaid) because of their immigration status. Enrollment in the new Apple Health Expansion is limited, so those interested should apply as soon as possible.
You may be eligible for Apple Health Expansion coverage if you:
- Are a Washington resident age 19 or older.
- Have countable income under 138% of the federal poverty level.
- Do not qualify for other Apple Health programs based on immigration status.
- Immigrants who have not met the five-year waiting period to become eligible for Apple Health are not eligible for Apple Health Expansion.
- Are not pregnant or did not have a pregnancy end in the last 12 months.
- Are not eligible for qualified health plans (QHP) with advance premium tax credits (APTC) or federally funded medical assistance programs.

NEW NUMBER TO CALL FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN NEED
WHAT: Lifeline is a new hotline for young people ages 12-25 in Washington state who are at risk of experiencing homelessness or other crises. This new hotline can help connect young people to resource navigation and funding for food, shelter, transportation, and more.
GET HELP: Call 253.300.9991 Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm for immediate help. If you call outside those hours, leave a message and someone will call you back within 48 hours.

FREE HVAC JOB TRAINING

WHAT: Are you being threatened with eviction by your landlord or property manager? Join Solid Ground Tenant Counselors and legal advisors to get information and insight on tenants’ rights under the Washington State Residential Landlord-Tenant Act. We’ll answer these questions and more…

FREE MEDICAL CARE FOR PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS
WHEN: Various times and locations listed below
WHAT: King County’s Mobile Medical Program provides walk-in care for people who are living homeless (or were recently homeless) only. Please try to arrive at least one hour before the scheduled end time for the clinic. On rare occasions the clinic will close earlier than the scheduled time. Call the Mobile Van nursing lines if you would like to confirm the clinic end time for a particular day.
Please note: Sites and available services are subject to change due to Mobile Medical’s involvement in the COVID-19 response. Please check King County’s Mobile Medical Care webpage for the latest information, including upcoming dates in September.

FREE & LOW-COST VETERINARY CARE

WHAT: Seattle Veterinary Outreach, Washington Health Outreach, and Doney Coe Pet Clinic provide veterinary care for free or at a reduced cost to the pets of people experiencing homelessness and or living on low incomes.
Veterinary care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Pet owners are encouraged to arrive early to secure a place in line.
Services are reserved for those experiencing homelessness or living with a low income, which is verified at clinics. Pet owners should bring their SNAP, EBT, WIC, SSI, or TANF cards. Alternatively, a letter confirming that the pet owner is living in subsidized housing or receiving housing vouchers is also acceptable.

FREE AIR CONDITIONING UNITS
WHAT: You may be able to get a free A/C unit this summer thanks to Byrd Barr’s Energy Assistance programs. To qualify, you must first be approved for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
You may also be able to get help paying energy bills, refilling oil tanks, and repairing or replacing furnaces.

HELP KEEPING KIDS FED THIS SUMMER
WHEN: New SUN Bucks cards will be mailed starting in June. Applications accepted through August 31, 2024.
WHAT: Washington parents may be able to get a little extra help keeping their kids fed this summer thanks to a new program called SUN Bucks.
Under the program, parents will receive $120 per eligible child to spend on food. The money will be loaded onto SUN Bucks cards that will be mailed out starting in June. SUN Bucks are separate from Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or any other food benefits you may receive.
Some children will automatically be enrolled in SUN Bucks and others will need to apply. Applications will be accepted through August 31, 2024.
