Solid Ground is pleased to announce that Maya Hemachandra, MPA, CFRE and Shannon Rae, MS, LMFT have joined our Strategic Leadership Team as Resource Development Director and Stabilization Services Director.
“Maya Hemachandra is a proven strategic and inclusive philanthropic leader who specializes in building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders,” says Gordon McHenry, Jr., President and CEO of Solid Ground.
Hemachandra will be responsible for overseeing Solid Ground’s public and private development efforts, and will help shape strategic direction and operational policies as a member of the agency’s Strategic Leadership Team.
Hemachandra spent the last 11 years at United Way of Snohomish County, most recently as Vice President of Engagement, and has worked previously for the Women’s Funding Alliance, Seattle Goodwill, Shoreline Public Schools and Literacy AmeriCorps. She has a BS from Carnegie Mellon University, an MPA from the University of Washington, and is currently completing continuing education studies in Storytelling and Content Strategy.
“Shannon Rae is an innovative manager with a passion for housing and social justice,” McHenry says. “We got to know Shannon through her volunteer service on Solid Ground’s Board of Directors. While we are disappointed to lose a valued Board member, we are thrilled to bring her on to our leadership team!”
Rae will oversee strategic growth and initiative planning of Solid Ground’s Stabilization Services Department including mortgage and tenant counseling, housing stabilization and financial fitness services. She will also serve as a member of the Strategic Leadership Team shaping agency direction and policy.
Rae most recently was at New Beginnings, has previously taught at Antioch University, and worked at Fairfax Hospital and in private practice as a marriage, family and child therapist. She has BA and MS degrees from California State University, Northridge.
