Dealing with the courts can be confusing and expensive, especially when families are involved. Fortunately, you can get free legal help and education from both El Centro De La Raza and the YWCA Seattle | King | Snohomish. HELP APPLYING FOR SEATTLE SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS
WHEN: Tuesday, March 25, 2025, 4-7pm

WHAT: Get help applying for scholarships to cover all or part of the cost of summer camps and other programs offered by Seattle Parks and Recreation. If you are interested and meet income requirements, you must apply for a scholarship BEFORE registering for the program. Be sure to bring one or more of the following documents:
- Copy of your 2024 1040 Federal Income Tax Return
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
- Social Security Income for Disability (SSI)

FREE TAX HELP

MANAGING YOUR MONEY IN THE U.S.

WHAT: Participants in the Seattle Internship Program are placed in professional and/or structured paid work settings within City departments, local businesses, and nonprofit agencies to apply their knowledge, gain hands-on experience, develop professional connections, and build their resume. Interns earn $20.76/hr.

YOUR RIGHTS AS A RENTER WHEN BREAKING A LEASE
WHEN: Wednesday, March 26, 2025, 5-6:45pm
WHERE: Online. Register for link.
WHAT: Do you need to break your lease to escape a dangerous situation? In this workshop, we’ll go over three situations in which you may be able to break a lease without liability, including:
- You’ve experienced stalking, unlawful harassment, domestic violence, or sexual assault.
- You’ve been assaulted by another tenant, and the other tenant was arrested.
- Your landlord hasn’t responded to a serious repair issue in a reasonable amount of time.
- We’ll also discuss what to expect when breaking a lease in other circumstances.
A visiting attorney from the Tenant Law Center will also be on hand to help with answering questions. If you’re currently living in King County and being threatened with eviction, contact the Housing Justice Project for legal assistance at 206.267.7069 or hjpstaff@kcba.org.

FREE MEDICAL CARE FOR PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS
WHEN: Various times and locations listed below
WHAT: King County’s Mobile Medical Program provides walk-in care for people who are living homeless (or were recently homeless) only. Please try to arrive at least one hour before the scheduled end time for the clinic. On rare occasions the clinic will close earlier than the scheduled time. Call the Mobile Van nursing lines if you would like to confirm the clinic end time for a particular day.

FREE & LOW-COST VETERINARY CARE
WHEN: Various dates and times. See below.
WHAT: Seattle Veterinary Outreach, Washington Health Outreach, and Doney Coe Pet Clinic provide veterinary care for free or at a reduced cost to the pets of people experiencing homelessness and or living on low incomes.
Veterinary care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Pet owners are encouraged to arrive early to secure a place in line.
Services are reserved for those experiencing homelessness or living with a low income, which is verified at clinics. Pet owners should bring their SNAP, EBT, WIC, SSI, or TANF cards. Alternatively, a letter confirming that the pet owner is living in subsidized housing or receiving housing vouchers is also acceptable.

FREE OVERDOSE PREVENTION TRAINING
WHEN: Sunday, March 30, 2025, 2-4pm
WHERE: Lake City Library Branch, 12501 28th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125
WHAT: The Seattle Public Library is hosting two upcoming overdose prevention workshops at its Lake City branch. The training will provide community members with the resources, knowledge, and training on how to identify and respond to a drug overdose. We’ll also discuss local overdose trends, other harm reduction & recovery resources, and give out naloxone to participants at no cost. Registration encouraged but not required.

FREE, LOW-COST SEATTLE EVENTS
WHEN: April-June 2025
WHAT: Seattle Parks & Recreation has put together a list of free and low-cost events at community centers across the city this spring and summer. Offerings range from a Mother’s Day clothing swap at Garfield Community Center to a painting and ice cream night at Rainier Beach Community Center.

FREE LEGAL HELP
WHEN: Wednesday, April 9, 2024, 4-8pm (intake 4-6pm)
WHERE: El Centro de la Raza, Historic Building, Top Floor, 2524 16th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144
WHAT: Volunteer attorneys from the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington (LBAW) and the community, along with volunteer interpreters, provide free 30-minute consultations on topics such as immigration, personal injury, worker’s rights, family law, and more. Availability depends on attorney expertise at each clinic.
Space is limited. Consultations are first-come, first-served in-person, and there’s no guarantee of being seen due to high demand and specific legal matters.

KNOW YOUR IMMIGRATION RIGHTS

FREE TAX HELP
WHEN: Tax returns due Tuesday, April 15, 2025
WHAT: If you make less than $80,000 a year (or less than $96,000 for non-single filers), the United Way of King County is available to do your taxes for FREE so you can get back more of your hard-earned money. Volunteers help you understand your tax situation, plus take advantage of credits like the Earned Income Credit, Child Tax Credit, and the Working Families Tax Credit to maximize your refund.
There are three ways to get FREE tax help:
- In-Person Assistance: Check out the tax site map below to find a tax site that’s most convenient for you. All tax sites are first come, first serve. No appointments necessary!
- Virtual Tax Assistance: Interested in filing your taxes virtually but don’t feel comfortable doing it on your own? We’re happy to help!

FREE MEDICAL, DENTAL & VISION CARE
WHEN: April 24 – 27, 2025
WHAT: The Seattle Center will host its annual four-day FREE Seattle/King County Clinic on April 24-27 this year, offering medical, dental, and vision care for anyone who needs it – no insurance, ID, or proof of residency required. Available services include:
- Dental: Treatment for pain or discomfort, known or suspected cavities, swollen gums, and broken teeth.
- Vision: Vision screening, complete eye exams, prescription eyeglasses.
- Medical: Primary care, x-rays, mammograms, ultrasounds, select lab tests, immunizations, foot care, dermatology, physical and occupational (hand, wrist, elbow) therapy, acupuncture, nutrition, behavioral health, and more.

FEDERAL STUDENT AID APPLICATIONS NOW ACCEPTED
WHEN: Applications due June 30, 2025.
WHAT: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now open for all students and families applying for the 2025–2026 school year. While the final FAFSA deadline isn’t until June 30, 2025, students should apply as early as possible because some kinds of financial support are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Completing the FAFSA takes about an hour.
