Payments for SNAP recipients have now resumed, but many families are still struggling to get enough healthy food to eat every day. Fortunately, the U District Food Bank has put together a list of free community meals and restaurants offering free and discounted food in Seattle. Read on to learn more, plus find information about free vaccines, preschool programs, job training, and fun holiday events!
FREE MEALS IN SEATTLE
WHAT: In response to the recent disruption in SNAP payments, the University District Food Bank has put together a list of free weekly community meals and Seattle restaurants offering free and discounted food for those in need.

FREE VACCINES IN DOWNTOWN SEATTLE
WHERE: Downtown Seattle YMCA, 909 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104
WHEN: Saturday, November 22, 2025, 11am-2pm
WHAT: The Downtown Seattle YMCA is hosting a Free Pop-Up Vaccine Clinic with Flu & COVID-19 vaccines available for free to everyone. No appointment or insurance required. Clean, warm clothes will also be available for anyone in need.
FREE IN-HOME EARLY LEARNING PROGRAM
WHEN: Enrollment open now
WHAT: Atlantic Street Center is now enrolling children 18- to 30-months-old in its ParentChild+ in-home early literacy program, which provides families with free, high-quality developmental books and toys to support your young scholar’s school readiness journey. Enrolled children also receive 30-minute in home sessions with a trained Early Learning Specialist twice a week throughout the year.

FREE PRESCHOOL IN KENT
WHAT: Kent Youth & Family Services is currently enrolling low-income families in Head Start and ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program), early-learning programs that provide a variety of free services for eligible children 3- to 4-years-old and their families. Services can include hot meals, health screenings, bus transportation, support services, family activities, and parenting education.

FREE WEB/SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FOR WOMEN
WHEN: Apply by November 28, 2025 for Spring 2026 cohort. Eleven-month course begins March 2026. Classes are full-time 5 days per week for 6 months, followed by a 5-month paid internship
WHERE: Primarily virtual classes. Internships are in-person.
WHAT: Ada Core is a tuition-free, 11-month (6 month classroom/5 month internship) training program to prepare women and gender expansive adults for careers in software/web development. The program includes a collaborative learning environment, individualized support (mentors, tutors, a network of mental health supports, affinity groups), and applied learning internships. Ada primarily serves and addresses the needs of Black, Latinx, Indigenous Americans, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander, LGBTQIA+, and low-income people.

WHAT: Do you have a question about a civil legal issue – housing, family law, wills, consumer issues, general legal problems, etc.? Legal Aid Pop-Ups are here for you. These are not staffed by attorneys and cannot offer legal advice but do provide free legal information, resources, and system navigation on a walk-in basis at various locations around King County. Open to all King County tenants regardless of income who have questions about a civil legal issue may walk in to Legal Aid Pop-ups. All services are free.

FREE HELP WITH BAD CREDIT

WHAT: This is a free (virtual) two-hour workshop to help you improve and understand your credit standing and ultimately help get your finances on track as we provide information, resources, and financial literacy training that are necessary to correct and/or improve your financial standing and gain financial stability.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will:
- Receive a copy of your credit report
- Learn how to read and understand your credit report
- Understand why a credit report is needed for financing and how it can affect your spending
- Learn what items impact your credit score rating and how to use them to your benefit
- Learn about the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act

FREE & LOW-COST VETERINARY CARE
WHEN: See various dates and times below.
WHAT: Seattle Veterinary Outreach, Washington Health Outreach, and Doney Coe Pet Clinic provide veterinary care for free or at a reduced cost to the pets of people experiencing homelessness and or living on low incomes.
Veterinary care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Pet owners are encouraged to arrive early to secure a place in line.
Services are reserved for those experiencing homelessness or living with a low income, which is verified at clinics. Pet owners should bring their SNAP, EBT, WIC, SSI, or TANF cards. Alternatively, a letter confirming that the pet owner is living in subsidized housing or receiving housing vouchers is also acceptable.

FREE MEDICARE HELP DURING OPEN ENROLLMENT

WHAT: Open Enrollment is the time every fall and winter when Medicare enrollees have a chance to review, change, or drop their prescription drug or Medicare Advantage plans. HELP SAVING FOR COLLEGE & MORE
WHEN: Enrollment began November 1, 2026
WHAT: Washington state’s GET Prepaid Tuition Plan has reopened enrollment for parents looking to build savings for their children’s future education. GET is a 529 prepaid tuition program that carries a state-backed guarantee, ensuring that units purchased today will always keep pace with in-state college tuition costs. Savings in a GET account grow tax-free and are not subject to the ups and downs of financial markets, so families can save with confidence. Enrollment is free.

GET HELP PAYING FOR SCHOOL
WHEN: Apply now for the 2026-2027 school year.
WHAT: If you’re thinking about attending college, trade schools, job training, or apprenticeships starting in fall 2026, now is the time to learn about what kind of financial aid you may be able to get. Both the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) for the 2027-2027 school year are now available. Don’t know which form to use? It’s simple:
- Are you a US citizen or eligible non-citizen? Complete the FAFSA.
- Are you ineligible to complete the FAFSA due to immigration status, defaulted federal loans, or other issues with federal aid? Complete the WASFA.

MINIMUM WAGE GOING UP NEXT YEAR
WHEN: January 1, 2026
WHAT: The minimum wage for all workers in Washington state will go up starting in January, but how much depends on where you work. In Seattle, the minimum wage will increase 2.6%, from $20.76 to $21.30 per hour. In communities that don’t have their own, the statewide minimum will rise 2.8%, from $16.66 per hour to $17.13. Minimum wage for ride-hailing drivers will increase as well.
