We have been informed by our attorneys that the lawyers for Charleena Lyles’ estate are in the process of adding Solid Ground to their lawsuit against the City of Seattle and Seattle Police Officers Anderson and McNew.
Solid Ground is a nonprofit organization that has provided housing and supportive services to Charleena Lyles and her family since November 2015. We are proud of our work and we continue to provide services to over 450 residents of our Sand Point Housing campus. Charleena came to Solid Ground seeking a more stable life for herself and her family. We supported her goals and honored her self-determination. Since her tragic death, we have fully cooperated with the Lyles family in their efforts to obtain justice, and we will continue to do so.
“Charleena’s death was a tragedy. To now sue Solid Ground not only worsens this tragedy but seeks to diminish the hard and effective work of our dedicated staff,” said Gordon McHenry, Jr., President & CEO of Solid Ground.

That’s some racist b-llshit. Seattle Police have been PROVEN to be racist and PROVEN that they treat people of color differently than white people. How DARE you attack this poor woman’s family for her murder. SHAME ON COMMON GROUND! With people like this defending you, it’s clear you deserve to be a defendant in the lawsuit.

“The Justice Department said Thursday that it would conduct a comprehensive investigation of the Seattle Police Department after a series of episodes in which police officers have been accused of using unnecessary force and discriminating against minorities.”
