As a valued Solid Ground partner for over five years, Swedish has provided major events support – and in recent months, they’ve found ways to nurture health and hygiene among Solid Ground residents.
This summer and fall, Swedish brought two mobile COVID-19 testing clinics directly to Sand Point Housing residents. Approximately 165 people received tests and information delivered essentially to their doorsteps – quick, easy, and barrier-free – and 54 residents also received flu shots.
In addition, Swedish donated essential items for hygiene kits distributed to residents who came to the clinic. Perhaps most importantly, Swedish staff provided caring, confidential information and education along with testing, took the time to answer all questions, and reassured residents who had concerns about privacy around their test results.
Dee Hillis, Solid Ground’s Residential Services Director, expressed gratitude on behalf of the whole Sand Point Housing team. “Swedish staff were excellent partners. They had such a good bedside manner with residents.” She says this not only helped put even the most hesitant residents at ease, it resulted in neighbors encouraging neighbors to visit the clinics.
Pinky Herrera, Swedish Community Health Investment and Partnerships Program Manager, says partnerships like these help further Swedish’s reach among under-resourced communities and vulnerable individuals and families. “We are proud to stand with them and be present so that they thrive and lead healthy lives.” Thank you, Swedish, for the steady and sensitively provided support!
