About Office Support
The Office Support team is housed under Solid Ground’s Stabilization Services department, which works to keep people in their current homes through information, advocacy, case management, and limited financial support. They strive to rapidly rehouse families who lose their housing and connect people with long-term housing solutions. Office Support works closely with the Community Resource Gateway (CRG) team, providing reception services and clerical support to agency staff.
About Office Support Volunteers
Office Support Volunteers will support administrative and clerical operations for Solid Ground’s Administrative Services Supervisor and front desk staff throughout the year. Tasks can include:
- Respond to program participants, volunteers, and staff in person or via phone or email.
- Answer phone calls and referring callers to 2-1-1 and/or assistance programs.
- Enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
- Organize books, files, and office supplies.
- Organize mail and coordinate deliveries.
- Assemble informational packets or kits.
- Order and restock office supplies.
- Assist with monthly reports.
- Complete research projects.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Time Commitment
Solid Ground’s Front Desk needs volunteer support Monday-Friday, 9:30am-4pm. Volunteers can sign up for shifts throughout the week and are encouraged to volunteer 4-12 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.
Qualifications
- Age requirement: Must be 18 or older.
- Work effectively alone and within a team as necessary.
- Able to make a minimum 6-month commitment to this position.
- Basic knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
- Detail oriented, with strong organizational skills and willingness to maintain data integrity.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Generally, this role involves sitting, standing, and lifting items up to 20 pounds. Solid Ground does and will make accommodations for people of differing abilities.
- Willingness and ability to work with people from a variety of racial, cultural and economic backgrounds, with various lifestyles, sexual orientations, and of all ages.
