Support RSVP’s mission and volunteer recruitment efforts.
About RSVP
The RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) is a National Service program federally funded by AmeriCorps Seniors. People age 55 and older volunteer in organizations to meet critical community needs throughout King County. Please join our 300+ volunteers who support 35 nonprofits in King County.
About RSVP Ambassadors
RSVP Ambassadors support RSVP’s mission and encourage people 55 and older to volunteer by 1) helping to increase RSVP’s visibility in King County and 2) providing input into the program. Ambassadors work to support RSVP through positive relationships with community agencies and potential volunteers. RSVP Ambassadors:
- Represent RSVP at outreach, community, site partner, and recognition events (e.g., resource fairs, farmers markets, etc.) and share RSVP resources with community members.
- Take part in brainstorming and planning discussions about RSVP initiatives.
- Recruit interested volunteers and help us spread the word about RSVP.
- Help recruit new RSVP Ambassadors.
- Visit RSVP partner sites to learn about their volunteer needs, assist with volunteer recognition, and build relationships with other organizations.
- Research trends in volunteerism, aging, and community needs.
- Serve on committees or planning groups with relevant community organizations.
- Assist at Solid Ground events and participate in other community service projects as interested.
Time Commitment
In addition to their individual volunteer commitments, RSVP Ambassadors meet quarterly (virtually and/or in person) for two hours. Total time commitment outside of meetings varies depending on chosen activities. We ask that volunteers serve for a minimum of one year.
Training
RSVP Program Coordinator and committee members provide training on RSVP history, mission, and structure of RSVP. Additional training and relevant templates and resources are provided.
