Our longtime partnership with Whole Foods Market continues to grow and evolve – supporting Solid Ground’s work to address people’s whole lives, not just apply bandaids to isolated problems.
As part of their purpose to nourish people and the planet, Whole Foods Market has been a dedicated and creative Solid Ground supporter for a decade and counting. From event sponsorships to produce donations for our cooking and nutrition classes – and from holiday fundraisers to bag credit donations – Whole Foods Market consistently shows up for our communities.
This past Thursday, October 17, Solid Ground was honored to be the nonprofit recipient of Whole Foods Market’s quarterly 5% Day Community Giving Program, during which 5% of eight local stores’ total net sales for that day went to support our work. The event gave Seattle-area shoppers the chance to give back to our local communities just by doing their normal shopping.
Maybe you were one of them? If yes, thank YOU … and WOW! Together, we raised over $36,000 for Solid Ground! What’s more, Whole Foods Market just announced they will be Presenting Sponsor of Solid Ground’s 2020 Building Community Luncheon (save the date for Tuesday, March 24, 2020 from 11:30am to 1:30pm)!
At their own recent anniversary celebrating 20 years of providing healthy foods in a supermarket setting in Seattle, they held a Meet & Greet with two-time James Beard Award Winner Chef Edouardo Jordan – who serendipitously will also be our 2020 Luncheon keynote speaker! In addition to Luncheon sponsorship, Whole Foods Market will underwrite costs for Chef Jordan to do a series of workshops with youth at our Sand Point Housing campus prior to the event, connecting food and individual ingredients to various cultural traditions.
Thank you to Whole Foods Market for supporting Solid Ground’s work to address our program participants’ and residents’ whole lives as they navigate their journeys toward greater stability.
